Why is Sciacca coral environmentally sustainable?
Sciacca coral is a fossil coral, which means that when it was first harvested, it was in the form of a rock aggregate, and the corals inside were therefore had already died by natural causes thousands of years earlier.
How can you recognise Sciacca coral?
There are three characteristics to consider:
- the colour: from pink to orange, the oldest pieces tend towards black;
- the luminosity: Sciacca coral shines like a crystal;
- the sound. Sciacca coral clinks like two crystal glasses.
The coral has become opaque, what do I do?
Coral is as delicate as human skin, so it is sensitive to sweat, sun and chemicals (swimming pool chlorine, perfumes, lacquers, etc.). However, a cloth soaked in almond oil is all it takes to make it shine again.
